Surafel L Tilahun (PhD) is an associate professor and head of HPC and Big Data Analytics centre of excellence of Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU). He is an active researcher in applied and computational mathematics, data science and related fields. He has supervised over 15 postgraduate students, over 35 peer reviewed publications, numerous conference proceedings, edited a book and organized conferences, workshops and trainings. He led a number of research projects including as a sub-grantee of the HASH project. He has extensive international research collaborations. He is the chief editor of one of the two journals of AASTU, associate editor of the Ethiopian Mathematics Professionals Association’s journal. He is a member of a number of societies including SIAM, ORSSA, EMPA, IMS and CODATA.
